An Evening with Nichole Nordeman

NicholeNordeman.jpg

AN EVENING WITH NICHOLE NORDEMAN

$5.00 for General Admission tickets | $45.00 for VIP tickets which include front few rows of seating and a meet and greet reception with Nichole Nordeman, 5:30pm-6:30pm, prior to the event.

Join us for a night of worship and conversation with singer, songwriter, and author, Nichole Nordeman. Nichole has been a well-loved voice in contemporary Christian music for 20 years. Beyond her various Dove Award nominations and wins for her accomplishments in Christian music, Nichole also holds the titles of author and mother.

Her 2016 tear jerking viral video, "Slow Down," touched the hearts of millions of viewers and had thousands of parents online touched, commenting on the video sharing their own memories raising kids. Her most recent album, Every Mile Mattered, released in the summer of 2017, not only landed on the Billboard 200 but was her first Christian number one album.

For those unfamiliar with her music, Nichole shares in her own words, “I want [you] to hear brokenness and hear joy, as well, but hear honesty in both of those moments and know it does not matter where you are on the path. Just be you and know that the more “you” you are, the more you’re opening yourself up to being whole and loved again.” Draw near to God and God will draw near to you. James 4:8

Nichole will also share her faith journey and how overcoming obstacles led her closer to God. This will be an evening of worship and conversation as we draw near to God and God draws near to us. If you desire to experience God in a deep and fresh way, then we invite you to join us!

We encourage church youth groups to attend and will provide FREE general admission tickets. Contact Rev. Joy Dister-Dominguez for more information, Joy@ArborlawnUMC.org

Lunch & Learn: Navigating the Roadmap as We Age

NavigatingAgingRoadmap (1).jpg

Join us for a “Lunch and Learn” hosted by the Congregational Care Ministry on June 27, 12:00pm-1:00pm

Karen Cone, Business Development Director with Brookdale Senior Living, has worked in and served Older Adults and family members for more than 14 years. She also understands the perspective of being an adult child of a parent living with Dementia. Over the years, Karen has found several helpful “traveling tips” along the aging journey. Please join us as we discuss the various levels of care and support services available, as well as, who pays for what. This is an important topic for us all. Whether you find yourself in the middle of the journey or you’ve not yet begun, you will want to be here! We will have a complimentary lunch by Brookdale Senior Living for all who RSVP. You don’t have to figure it all out on your own and you definitely don’t want to wait until you are in the middle of a crisis.

Registration is required, sign-up sheet in the church office (817) 731-0701. Contact Rev. Joy Dister-Dominguez for more information.

Rooted Worship

WHO WE ARE

Rooted is the contemporary worshipping community of Arborlawn UMC where all are welcome as beloved children of God. Rooted in that identity, we are growing together as disciples in authentic community and actively branching out to love Fort Worth.

GROWING TOGETHER

We worship together on Sundays and share life together in smaller groups because we believe life is better in open and real community.

BRANCHING OUT

We serve and include the Fort Worth community because we believe people who are loved by God love others like God.

WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT:

Rooted offers energetic contemporary (or modern) worship led by our talented worship leader, Jackson Christenberry, and band. During worship, you will hear a scripturally informed sermon encouraging you to live a fuller life. We celebrate Holy Communion each and every week and it is always open to all.

ATMOSPHERE

We place special emphasis on being an open and real worshipping community. We want you to be welcomed amongst us as we believe God welcomes you. We want you to worship God feeling free to express yourself in a true and honest way. This means coming dressed as you are, whether that means wearing jeans and a t-shirt or your favorite dress or suit.

TIME AND LOCATION

Rooted meets in the Worship Center located on the second floor of the church at 11:11 am. If you enter from the east side of campus, simply walk down the hallway until you find the smiling, friendly faces of our greeters next to the double doors. If you enter from the lower level on the west side of campus, take the stairs or elevator to the second floor. We are opposite the Sanctuary balcony. Again, look for the smiling, friendly faces welcoming you to worship.

WHEN YOU ARRIVE

Once you enter the Worship Center, grab a cup of coffee and a bite to eat from our refreshment table prepared for you in the back. Then you can strike up a conversation or grab a seat as you wait for worship to begin. We will be glad you came and we hope you will be, too.

CONTACT

The Lead Pastor for Rooted worship is Rev. Nick Scott. If you have questions or would like more information about Rooted worship, reach out to him at nick@arborlawnumc.org.

Traditional Worship @ 8:45 am & 11:00 am

The Traditional services in the Sanctuary at Arborlawn take place every Sunday at 8:45 and 11 am. The service utilizes the traditional order of worship that God's people have been using for centuries, and features the Arborlawn Chancel Choir, directed by Michael Plantz and accompanied by our organist, Jerry Westenkuehler. Several of Arborlawn's associate pastors help lead the service, with Senior Pastor, Chris Mesa as the regular preacher.

Both the 8:45 and 11:00 traditional worshipping communities begin each service with a time of welcome and greeting. This reflects our vision at Arborlawn to be disciples of Jesus Christ who connect with people as we prepare to be disciples who meet God in worship every Sunday so that we might be disciples who live missionally in the world each week.

We hope all people feel welcome in this beautiful service of liturgy, traditional hymns, and transformative preaching each week.
