Serving with Radical Hospitality
At Arborlawn, we call on our members to serve this community with radical hospitality. In this we provide numerous ways to match each individual’s spiritual gifts with a need in this place. Below you can learn more about how you can serve on Sunday morning.
The Hospitality Team at Arborlawn is made up of a variety of positions that provide radical hospitality in this place. Greeters help to welcome guests and members as they walk through our doors, making every single person feel like they truly have come Home. There are four Welcome Kiosks with volunteers throughout the building to assist guests and members with questions about Arborlawn and all of our amazing ministries. Ushers serve dually in worship and in hospitality, assisting in the 8:45 am and 11:00 am services welcoming all who walk into the Sanctuary. The Dubmobile, Arborlawn’s golf cart, is one of the ways we offer hospitality to guests and members by helping them get from the parking lot to the door on Sunday mornings.
The Worship Team at Arborlawn consists of two positions that augment worship for this community. During worship, Ushers serve by passing the plates during the Offertory and by helping direct the congregation to the Communion rail. As empowered by the United Methodist Church, anyone who is called to serve and trained by the clergy can serve Holy Communion. In both the Traditional and Rooted worship services, Communion Servers are needed to help serve this incredible meal that conveys God’s grace for all people.
The Transportation Team at Arborlawn provides means for members and guests who are in need of transportation to and from the church on Sunday mornings. The Drivers keep track of their passengers during the week and then arrive early enough Sunday morning to prepare the bus. The Stewards assist riders getting on the bus and then engage in conversation with them which allows the driver to concentrate on traveling safely to worship.
If any of these roles excite you, please fill out the form below or contact Matt Morrison, Ministry Support Coordinator (Matt@ArborlawnUMC.org). He will be happy to help connect you.
