THE NATIVITY PAGEANT AT ARBORLAWN
The Nativity Pageant tells the story of the birth of Jesus, under the glow of Texas stars. The show involves live animals, music, and drama and is held the first Saturday and Sunday of December. Members of Arborlawn and guests begin rehearsals in September for this holiday tradition. The rehearsals are usually held on Sunday afternoons in September, October and November.
CONCERTS AT ARBORLAWN
Arborlawn UMC presents concerts as gifts to the community. The best known of these events is the annual Fourth of July concert. Members of the congregation and community are invited to sing with Arborlawn’s Chancel Choir in this presentation of rousing patriotic music.
In response to last winter’s catastrophic earthquake in Haiti, a benefit concert was presented at Arborlawn that raised money for the Red Cross for Haiti relief efforts.
Arborlawn hosted a concert by Libera, an internationally acclaimed choir of boys from London, in the summer of 2010.
ADVENT AND LENTEN CONCERT SERIES
On Wednesdays during the season of Advent before Christmas and during the season of Lent before Easter, short, casual concerts are presented by outstanding musicians in the Sanctuary at noon. The concerts are followed by light luncheons. These free events are open to the public. A love offering is taken during the luncheons.
