United Methodist Women (UMW)
The United Methodist Women (UMW) at Arborlawn is a community of women whose purpose is to know God and to experience freedom as whole persons through Jesus Christ; to develop a creative, supportive fellowship; and to expand concepts of mission through participation in the global ministries of the church.
Arborlawn UMW meets collectively at the church the first Tuesday of each month from September through May. These general meetings, held at 10 a.m., include a program and business meeting followed by a meal. Programs have included authors, missionaries, local mission coordinators, musicians, and other personalities.
Smaller groups (called Circles) meet the third Tuesday of the month in the morning or evening for further study and fellowship. These meetings take place in the church, in members’ homes, or in other locations. Through nurturing and fellowship, the Circles help members of Arborlawn UMW grow in their faith.

Through volunteering and giving, the Arborlawn United Methodist Women reach out in Christian love and service both locally and around the world.
A loving mission of Arborlawn UMW is the Community Service group, affectionately known as “CSI.” This group consists of Arborlawn church members, whether in UMW or not, and women outside of our church. The dedicated CSI ladies assemble and sew layettes and blankets, and knit caps and quilts for newborns in the Fort Worth community. The baby items are distributed at John Peter Smith Hospital and FWISD New Lives School.
UMW missions within our congregation include: Arborlawn Food Pantry, Snack Sacks, Youth Mission Trips, Children's Ministries, and Prayer Circles.
In our local community, Arborlawn UWM are involved with: United Community Centers, Church Women United, Habitat for Humanity, Metropolitan Board of Missions, First Street Mission, WestAid, NICA, Wesley Centers at TCU and Texas Wesleyan University, Harris Hospital Auxiliary, John Peter Smith Hospital, and Fort Worth ISD's New Life School.
In our extended community, we are involved with: Methodist Children's Home, United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR), Glen Lake Retreat Center, and other projects of the Central Texas Conference of the United Methodist Church.
Please join us. All women – members and visitors – are welcome! UMW provides women the opportunity to socialize and grow in their faith through the study of issues related to women and children on a local, state, national, and worldwide level. We provide opportunities to interact with fellow UMW members of other churches as well as women of other denominations through conference-wide events and forums.
Spiritual growth and further study is offered at The School of Christian Missions, which is held each summer. During this time, a diverse group of leaders are brought together to offer ideas for in-depth studies related to UMW.
Childcare is available for all events. Please call the church office to make childcare reservations or more information about UMW meetings and activities.
