The church today desperately needs to recover the depth, richness, and wonder of the biblical and Wesleyan doctrine of salvation. Together, we will study Maxie Dunnam’s book Going on to Salvation. Drawing deeply on biblical and Wesleyan sources, Dunnam leads his readers on a rich and challenging tour of what it means to say that we are going on to salvation—saved by grace. We will tie the ten chapters of the book with several of John Wesley’s sermons as we discuss, pray, and study our way through this topic. Please read the first chapter and complete the homework before the first class session.

A Bible study for women experiencing worship alone and desiring to fellowship with others in similar circumstances. Anyone single, widowed, divorced, or in a situation where a spouse is not an active participant in worship is encouraged to attend. Experience the joy of a closer relationship with Christ as we base our study and discussions on Joy, from the Fruit of the Spirit Series, by Calvin Miller. The brief daily readings are recommended before each session.

The content of the class gives people the opportunity to discover details about Arborlawn United Methodist Church and about the United Methodist denomination. People are encouraged to ask the questions they have brought to their Arborlawn experience. They tell their stories. Time is taken for class members to get to know each other as individuals.
