Dave Brower-webAs formally announced at this year’s Annual Conference, Rev. Dave Brower has been appointed by Bishop Lowry and the Cabinet to Bethesda UMC (Weatherford) effective July 1. Though we are saddened by the departure of such a valuable part of the Arborlawn team we celebrate his new appointment to Bethesda UMC and pray God’s deepest blessings as he begins a new and exciting chapter of ministry. It’s an affirmation of his remarkable gifts for ministry and leadership. Dave is an exceptional young man and has been an invaluable and indispensable part of the mission and ministry of Arborlawn for the past six years. Dave has served with the Student Ministry team, helped create our small group ministries, oversaw staff development, led mission trips to Haiti and served as Lead Pastor of the 11:11 worship service. A reception to honor Dave and Lindsey and the family will be held this Sunday, June 26 after the 11:00 and 11:11 worship services. Baskets will be on hand for those who wish to give cards, notes or gifts to the Browers as we say goodbye. God bless and thank you Dave!

The departure of Rev. Dave Brower created a unique opportunity to reexamine and reevaluate our current staffing model. We are blessed with a remarkable staff of dedicated and gifted servant leaders. The goal is to build continuity and grow our leaders from within. The Staff Parish Relations Committee and Chair Neena Stephens are pleased to announce the following changes and realignment of several key areas of ministry:

Nick Scott- Lead Pastor at 11:11

Nick Scott-webNick Scott will assume the role as Lead Pastor of the 11:11 worship service. Nick is a graduate of Texas A&M and recently received a Masters of Divinity degree from Brite Divinity School (TCU) in May. Nick has been instrumental in creating and developing our small group ministry in his current position as Group Life Coordinator. The highly successful small group ministry has been an instrumental part of our efforts to grow maturing disciples of Jesus Christ through strong and deep relationships formed in small group settings. Nick will also continue to be involved with worship planning, pastoral care, and leadership development in addition to being the Lead Pastor at the 11:11 worship service. We’re excited for Nick’s new role as Lead Pastor and know that God will continue to work in and through him in the months and years ahead.

Abby Johnson -Discipleship Coordinator

She has previously served as Director of Student Ministries at Arborlawn for the past thirteen years, a remarkable legacy of shaping and transforming the lives of generations of Jr. High and Sr. High Students. Her vast knowledge of discipleship ministry and familiarity with the congregation and people of Arborlawn makes her uniquely qualified to lead in her new position as Discipleship Coordinator effective August 1. Her new role will involve a wider scope of creating and nurturing disciples of Jesus Christ of all ages and stages of life. Abby brings a wealth of experience, a continuity of effective leadership, a deep love for people and a passion for ministry to our congregation.
